Sound Designer

This profession requires to ability to develop sound communication projects. A Sound Designer is a manipulator of the invisible who orchestrates and controls sounds, working on each kind of object and communication product. This professional lives within a territory made of blends, timber, ambient sounds, digital and analogic audios, collaborating with several figures active in the realisation of a visual or sound object. Sound Designers work at soundtracks, sound effects and sound installations, working of perceptions and making become real something incorporeal, mixing passion and technique.

ied students for soundreef

IED Roma students remixed five artists who subscribed to Soundreef, the company that manages music rights for over 35.000 artists. The aim of the project is to promote creativity in music, focing on compositiong and adjustment.

The tracks rearrange songs by 99 Posse, ‘O Zulu; Capibara, Ottone Pesante and Marco Colonna and have been used for commercial on Soundcloud.

Riders is an action drama in three episodes by IED Roma students presented during the event Alice nella Città,  the most important event in Italy for cinema young talents. A funny and visionary story, a story of redemption in which the protagonists are a group of young people who try a scam at the food delivery app for which they ride incessantly all day, every day.

 

a great symphony for torino porta susa

A Great Symphony for Torino is a project asked by British Council and developed by many partners, including IED. It is a soundtrack for the city of Turin consisting in single compositions, dedicated to symbolic places in the city and in dialogue with citizens thanks to urban and public installations. IED Milano students worked on the voice of Porta Susa, adding their song to 15 others that are this “Great Symphony” under the special artistic direction of Steve Goodman aka Kode9.

 

YOROI: THE WEB SERIES IN COLLABORATION WITH RED BULL

Yoroi, the armour that turns a samurai into a hero, is the title of the original web series realised as Final Project by a group of IED Roma students in Video Design, Sound Design and Interaction Design, in collaboration with Red Bull.

10 Filmmakers, 9 Sound Designers e 3 Media Designers tell the sotries of 4 great Red Bull athletes. The video shows the backstage of the adveture, 4 on the road missions crossing Italy from North to South with the Red Bull stars as protagonists:  Roland Fishnaller, Airton Cozzolino, Luca Bertossio and Giacomo Redondi.

OVERGROUND MAGAZINE - A SOUND AND VISUAL EXPERIENCE

Club To Club, the contemporary art and music festival taking place in Turin, hosted the launch of the second volume of Overground, the urban culture magazine entirely realised by Graphic Design IED Torino. The sounds where realised by Sound Design IED Milano students. Even Vogue speaks about them.

SOUND DESIGNER

A Sound Designer is a"sound communication designer", a real professional of the magic world of sounds. This professional is able to interact with the many forms of contemporary communication and to produce audio using both music languages and production tools (computer and digital platforms, analogic and electronic instruments, registration studios, microphones, mixers), in order to compose soundtracks and soundscapes made of music, dialogues, sound effects and electronic manipulations.

Club To Club is the nr.1 electronic music event in Italy. With a European wide appeal too, it is a very important stage for fans of experimentation with sound, for those who are curious, sometimes extreme, never full of stimuli. Students from IED Milano found that all during the 2018 edition of the festival thanks to Absolut Symposium and Roland.

 

INVENTORI DI MONDI: THE CREATIVE AGENCY FOUNDED BY 4 IED ALUMNI

Inventori di Mondi, meaning worlds' inventors, is a Multimedia Design agency representing another case of cross-disciplinary success born into IED classrooms. The idea, later transformed into a real project, came from the joint effort of 4 IED Roma alumni: Daniel Bedusa and Tommaso Mattia Del Prete, graduated students in Digital Design, Danilo Bubani graduated student in Graphic Design, and Maurizio Bergmann graduated student in Sound Design. The celebrating video of the company Keyline has been entirely realised by these four young creative.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - REBOOT DEL VIDEOMAPPING | SOUND DESIGN FINAL PROJECT

Ideation and realisation of a sound reboot for the launch videomapping of the film The Amazing Spiderman. A new sound was created with orchestra and other aesthetic choices thought for the live show. Authors Michele Baldi, Giuseppe Rizzuto.

AYMARA

Aymara is a 3D animation short film dealing with the topic of love without time created in two parts, the first one illustrated and the second one entirely in 3D. It is the story of an ancient love between two gods, to which a third and more powerful goddess opposes. It narrates how this love is able to survive through centuries, finding a new life into two new born children who are destined to meet each other.

Coffee sounds for Marzocco

Progetti Speciali : Flip that bar is a project in collaboration between IED and La Marzocco, leading company in coffee machines sector. For six months, a group of fourteen students in Photography, Marketing, Events, Sound Design, Graphic Design, and Video Design analysed the coffee scenario in order to imagine the coffee shops of the future and to define an Italian coffee experience. A project based on the ideation of future imaginary. A project work that brought to development of a special book, edited Un lavoro di progettazione che ha visto lo sviluppo di un book speciale, redatto e impaginato dagli stessi studenti; sono inoltre stati realizzati un video e un paesaggio sonoro, quest’ultimo frutto della campionatura dei suoni delle macchine La Marzocco e del mondo del caffè . Questi due strumenti alternativi di rappresentazione degli scenari, prodotti dagli studenti IED, sono stati lo sfondo visivo e sonoro di Out of the Box, evento conclusivo del progetto e occasione per presentare i risultati.
